HS JV Boys have added a couple of JV games to the calendar with Emporia. The first is on Monday, 2/7, at Emporia High School. The other will be on 2/14, at Melvern. Good luck and GO TROJANS!

Starting Monday, February 7 MdCV will be celebrating Queen of Courts week. Both schools will be doing Spirit Week and the theme this year is Hollywood Flashback.

According to the National Weather Service, snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches will be possible overnight. Additionally, winds gusting as high as 30 mph will continue to cause blowing and drifting snow. Travel will continue to be difficult as patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility and will impact the morning commute.
Therefore, in making sure we are keeping our students, staff, and community safe during this winter storm warning, school has been CANCELLED for Thursday, February 3rd, 2022.

According to the National Weather Service, snow is likely to begin Tuesday night and continue through late Wednesday night. Periods of moderate to heavy snow are possible. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 7 inches and ice accumulations of a light glaze are possible.

Join us Friday to celebrate throwback night. We will honor the Quenemo 1960, the Melvern 1962 State Championship Teams and the JH Girls League Champions. Anyone who brings a high school letter jacket will get in free! JV Games begin at 5:00 PM followed by our varsity games.

The Kansas Board of Education voted unanimously to lower requirements for substitute teachers until June 1st. The state will allow anyone 18 years and older with a HS diploma (and background check) to substitute in Kansas. Please call the school, elementary 785-759-3512 or junior and senior high 785-549-3313, if you are interested in applying.
USD 456 will be celebrating Red Friday tomorrow, 1/28. Everyone, students and staff, are encouraged to wear their Chiefs gear to school.
On January 21 students participated in the annual MdCV Spelling Bee. After several ties over multiple rounds, a Champion and Runner-Up were crowned to represent MdCV at the Osage County Spelling Bee. Congratulations to Runner-Up Emily Criqui and Champion Kate Patterson!
LCL Tournament Brackets have been released. Boys will play at WLW Auditorium on Monday at 5:30 vs Madison. Girls play Tuesday at 7 PM vs Lebo.
The elementary will be having a PB&J sack lunch tomorrow, January 20.
There will be no JV games today, Tuesday, January 18th at Hartford. Varsity girls will begin at 6 PM followed by Varsity boys in their main gym.
JH Lady Trojans take down the Olpe Eagles in the LCL Championship game to win the tournament championship! Congratulations ladies and coaches on a historic basketball season and tournament!
The JH LCL basketball games for today have been moved to Monday due to weather and road conditions. The games have been postponed until 5 PM Monday, January 17th. Girls will play at Olpe in the large gym.
The third and fourth grades’ basketball games have been canceled for today.
The basketball games for our first and second graders at Waverly for tomorrow, January 15 have been canceled. The status of the third and fourth grade games will be decided in the morning.
