State Bound

The Marais des Cygnes Valley Lady Trojans are headed to the Class 1A Division II State Volleyball Tournament for the second consecutive year. State play begins Friday, October 30, at White Auditorium in Emporia.

MdCV enters the tournament with a 34–6 record. The Lady Trojans earned their return trip by winning the Sub-State championship in Melvern on October 24. They opened with a 25–5, 25–11 win over South Haven, then defeated Lyon County League rival Lebo 25–16, 25–22 in the championship match.

Last season, the Lady Trojans ended a 22-year wait to return to State. This year, they continued building on that success, finishing 7–0 in Lyon County League play and winning their third consecutive league tournament championship.

Send-Off and Pep Bus

The community is invited to line downtown Main Street at 8:00 a.m.  Friday, October 30, and cheer on the team as it leaves Melvern for Emporia.

Generous community donations are sponsoring the Pep Bus and helping students make the trip to support the Lady Trojans. We are grateful to everyone who contributed to make this opportunity possible. The school will cover admission for students riding the Pep Bus.

The bus will pick up students at Quenemo Elementary at 7:15 a.m. and wait until 7:30 a.m. before heading to Melvern for the send-off. Students who would like to ride should sign up in the office.
