On April 16, 2026, six Marais des Cygnes Valley students took an important step toward their futures by participating in Washburn Tech’s National Technical Letter of Intent Signing Day in Topeka.
Representing MdCV at the event were Sully Simpson, Rebel Moore, JR Moore, Trae Walker, Ricky Traver, and Jordyn Duncan. The students attended with MdCV counselor Lisa Reeser, who shared the exciting news: “Our Fall 2026 Washburn Tech students have officially signed their letters of intent!”
Washburn Tech’s Signing Day is designed to honor students who are entering technical fields and to celebrate the value and dignity of skilled work. Similar to a college athletic signing, students sign a letter of intent to attend Washburn Tech and are recognized for their commitment to career and technical education.
The annual event has grown into a meaningful tradition that highlights the importance of preparing students for high-skill, high-demand careers. Washburn Tech offers students opportunities in a wide range of fields, including construction, health occupations, manufacturing, transportation, design, technology, hospitality, and human services.
For MdCV, this event is another great example of students taking meaningful steps toward their futures. Career and technical education opens doors for students to gain valuable skills, enter the workforce with purpose, and meet important needs in communities across Kansas.
We are proud of Sully, Rebel, JR, Trae, Ricky, and Jordyn for representing MdCV well and for making this commitment to continue their education at Washburn Tech. We also appreciate Mrs. Reeser for supporting our students as they explore strong career pathways and prepare for life after high school.
Congratulations to these students on this exciting accomplishment. We look forward to seeing all they achieve in the next chapter of their journeys.
