Kansas Education Systems Accreditation (KESA)

Dear Marias des Cygnes Families and Friends,

Many of you may have heard of the acronym KESA being used for school systems. KESA  stands for Kansas Education Systems Accreditation. It is a K-12 accreditation model  approved by the Kansas State Board of Education in June of 2016 and is a framework that  focuses on data-based school improvement. It is a new process that “accredits” school  districts. At Marais des Cygnes Valley, our teachers are working together to strengthen  instruction and ensure every student has access to high-quality learning experiences aligned  to Kansas standards.

This year, our instructional focus centers on identifying key “anchor skills” within each  standard and intentionally reinforcing those skills across grade levels and content areas. By  collaborating as a staff, teachers are aligning instruction, using data to guide decisions, and  building learning in a way that helps students master essential skills over time rather than  learning concepts in isolation.

We value the partnership our schools have with our families and appreciate your continued  support as we focus on instructional quality and strong outcomes for all students. If you have  questions about this work or how it supports your child’s learning, please reach out to one  of our teachers or administrators.

Thank you for being an important part of the MdCV community.
