Marais des Cygnes Valley senior Colbie Cormode has been named December 2025 High School Student of the Month, an honor presented by KVOE-AM/96.9 FM, Country 101.7, and Mix 104.9 to recognize outstanding students across the Emporia area.
Colbie was selected based on her strong work ethic, leadership, and positive impact both in the classroom and in extracurricular activities. Nominated by Amanda Jo Ford, Colbie consistently demonstrates a commitment to learning, teamwork, and helping others succeed.
In the classroom, Colbie serves as a mentor and leader, particularly in chemistry, where she supports classmates by explaining challenging concepts with patience, kindness, and a sense of humor. Her approach helps create a welcoming, productive learning environment and encourages her peers to stay engaged and confident.
Colbie is actively involved in volleyball, dance, basketball, track, and Student Council, balancing a demanding schedule while maintaining a positive attitude and a team-first mindset. Her dedication and leadership are evident whether she is competing, practicing, or supporting her classmates.
Those who know Colbie describe her as kind, responsible, and uplifting. She has a natural ability to connect with others, bring energy into the room, and lead by example. Her leadership this year has made a lasting impact on our school.
