BANNER

Yesterday, USD 456 - Marais des Cygnes Valley received the following notification:

"It is our pleasure to advise you that the Trustee for the Walter S. and Evan C. Jones Testamentary Trust has awarded a grant in the amount of $65,000.00 to USD 456 Marais des Cygnes Valley  in support of their District Library Modernization project."

We are so excited to announce that MDCV has received the funding necessary to conduct our district library modernization project over the next 12 months!

Over the years, MDCV's libraries have fallen behind in its effort to provide reading materials to students that are recent, relevant, and engaging. Additionally, the library's catalog system has become outdated and a number of aspects regarding the physical facility have aged significantly.

Therefore, this grant will be able to bring over 2,000 current books into the library to help increase circulation among all students, bring the catalog system up to current standards, track the collection efficiently, and update the facilities housing the collection itself.

With this award from the Jones Trust, MDCV will be able to provide a number of updates for its students:

  • New library catalog system
  • 400 primary reading books
  • 100 elementary graphic novels
  • 100 elementary biography books
  • 300 elementary fiction books
  • 300 elementary non-fiction books
  • 150 secondary graphic novels
  • 100 secondary biography books
  • 500 secondary fiction books
  • 300 secondary non-fiction books
  • Paint and paint supplies
  • Replacement shelf boards
  • Organization supplies
  • Shelf baskets, supports, and dividers
  • Assorted furniture

We are so excited to bring this update to MDCV, its students, and its families!

THANK YOU to the Walter S. and Evan C. Jones Testamentary Trust for this wonderful opportunity!
