Meet Steve Burkdoll

by Jessica Snider

September 14, 2010

Wow! I must lead a pretty boring life We are in the process of updating our HS/JH personal bios. I don’t see anything too different in my bio except “two” years older!!

Except for the four years I traveled off to college, I have lived in the Quenemo and Melvern communities my whole life. I received my Bachelor degree from Washburn University many, many years ago; and, in 2004, I earned my Master’s degree from Emporia State University. My entire teaching career has been at Marais des Cygnes Valley schools, and I have been a Trojan fan forever! I have coached nearly every sport at both the Jr. High and High School levels, and although I have retired from my coaching duties, one of my favorite pastimes is still watching the Trojans and Lady Trojans compete in academics and athletics!

I have also been married “for a million years” (I’m sure it just seems that way to Bev). Bev and I have had four former Trojan graduates with one son and three daughters. Our son, Brad, is teaching & coaching at Anderson County HS in Garnett which he began two years ago after 4 years in Blue Valley Randolph. Brad is also enlarging the Burkdoll clan as he has proposed and getting married next June! Kelli is married to a contractor in Manhattan, Ks and she works as a speech pathologist in the Riley County district. She and her husband Pat made granny & gramps out of Bev and I this past February with a grandson (Ben). He is “all” kinds of fun and is making for a lot more trips to Manhappy! Kim is also married and has passed the CPA exam and is working for an accounting firm in Virginia Beach, Virginia while her husband is training to become a Navy pilot. (currently flying the F-18 Super Hornet!)  Carly, our youngest daughter has just graduated from K-State in May and is working for an eye dr. in Manhattan, Ks while waiting to get into an optometry school.

As I stated in the last bio two years ago I feel very proud to be a part of the educational team in Marais des Cygnes Valley as I feel that our “village”  turns out some of the finest young men & women as any school around! I hope to update this bio in another couple of years with more boring “old man Burkdoll” news:)

Go Trojans!  B
