2018 Annual Career Day

March 17, 2018

The annual Career Day for  high school and junior high students was held on Friday, March 16th.   The high school students signed up to hear six presentations of 15 rotating sessions in assigned rooms beginning at 11:00 a.m. and ending at 3:00 p.m.  The junior high listened to four sessions in the small gym from 12;30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Each presentation was approximately 25-30 minutes in length.  Guests and representatives who presented information included the following:

 

  • Joe Arb, a former MdCV graduate and works for Trade Wind Energy
     
  • Tidus Spencer, a former MdCV graduate is a pilot that flies business people to meetings.
     
  • Janae McNally, a former MdCV graduate and works for the Frontier District as a 4-H agent.
     
  • Marie Cormode, preschool teacher at MdCV elementary
  •  
  • Marilyn Runyan, an occupational therapist for Three Lakes Coop
  •  
  • James Welch, CEO of YRC Worldwide - YRCW is a $5 billion transportation company serving North America and has 32,000 employees in 384 facilities. 
                            James has been with YRCW for a combined 36 years
  •  
  • Caitlin Bacha, a Propulsion Engineer 
     
  • Sgt. Tooley from the National Guards
     
  • Sherry Coffman, a physical therapist that works at Salt Creek in Osage City.
     
  • Caption Nathan Blackwell, a Marine Recruiter
     
  • Larry Bess, a retired fireman and EMT from Emporia
     
  • Craig Murray, works for Heritage Tractor as a Human Resource manager in Topeka, Kansas
     
  • Lindsay Wigger, a dental hygienist
     
  • Holly O'Neill, Director of Forensic Chemical Science program at Washburn University
